Hertfordshire County Council secures top national award in Stonewall’s Education Equality Index 2016

On Friday 8th July, young people from Herts1125 Who not What group attended the Stonewall Education for All conference and, along with Hertfordshire County Council Youth Connexions and Herts for Learning, received the number one award on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council. The award recognises the local authority as the best in the country for its work with and for the young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender* community.

42 young people from across Watford and Three Rivers who are working towards their Bronze DofE awards took part in a very successful practice expedition during June. ‘Expedition’ is one of four required components of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme, the other three being Volunteering, Physical and Skills.

Youth Connexions launch 'Upper Highway' Youth Project

Youth Connexions has announced the launch of a new youth project based at Upper Highway Scout Hut in Abbots Langley, with support from Watford Community Housing Trust. The project, aimed at young people aged 13 to 19, was launched in April and runs every Wednesday from 6 - 8pm during term time.

Primary school pupils prepare for their next steps with Rocket into the Future

Youth Connexions delivered the careers group work course Rocket into the Future across the whole spring term in The Grange Junior School, Letchworth Garden City. The module introduces children in years 5 and 6 to the choices ahead, and starts them thinking about their skills, aspirations and opportunities.
